The Kerem Tunnel provides a unique riding experience and hiking experience that is to be loved by everyone.
The Kerem Tunnel, Israel's first cycle tunnel, was inaugurated as part of the Jerusalem Ring Path. This 42-kilometer cycle route is located around Jerusalem.

The tunnel is a link between Nahal Refaim and Emek Motza. It has a southern entrance located in Refaim Park. Ein Laban is the nearest. Nahal Ein Kerem is the northern entrance.

The 2.1-kilometers-long tunnel project was inaugurated in a ceremony on Thursday , attended by Jerusalem and Heritage Minister Ze'evElkin, Mayor Moshe Lion, Gihon water company chairman Avi Baleshnikov, and a slew of cyclists.

Jerusalem was a desirable tourist destination because of its rich historical. Elkin said that today in addition to its historic treasures, it is also a destination for modern-day tourists. "The inauguration of this tunnel project is a different element of the development of Jerusalem. It transforms the city into an attractive tourist destination for any kind of crowd in Israel and around the world."

Elkin's ministry, which was also in charge of the project together with Jerusalem Municipality, declared that his ministry "invests hundreds and millions of shekels every year in all aspects of Jerusalem’s tourism and in creating exciting attractions and ventures that link the amazing historical time of our capital city and its future." I would like to invite cyclists everywhere to take a trip and enjoy the contemporary, well-maintained road which overlooks Old Jerusalem.

The project was financed by the Elkin's Ministry as well as the Tourism Ministry. It also included budgets for Jerusalem Municipality and the Gihon Corporation. The work was carried out by the Jerusalem Development Authority.

Elkin said that the Kerem Tunnel project is an essential tool for achieving the idea to alter the concept and transport in Jerusalem. "The tunnel, which connects with the Jerusalem Ring Path, will connect the existing cycle routes in the city and will be constructed within the various areas. The tunnel is intended to encourage bicycling within the city's residents and promote an environmentally sustainable transportation system in Jerusalem."



נווה פריצקי The Kerem Tunnel, originally excavated by the Gihon Corporation in the 1990s in order to move its main sewer line towards Sorek's purification plant.

Construction of roads, installation, blowers, sophisticated safety systems and electrical wiring are all part and parcel of the present construction. The tunnel is safe for the public to use throughout the season.

Kerem Tunnel Kerem Tunnel provides access to unique recreation locations, including Ein Kerem neighbourhood, the Biblical aquarium and zoo as well the historic natural springs Ein Haniyeh, Ein Laban Ein Laban, and Ein Haniyeh.
